The Conspiracy Files (tanCF), Case #85260, the case of the Spamming Solicitors.
The story below is true, that is, if there is a Conspiracy (tinC). The names and faces were changed to protect the innocent victims and the incredibly stupid spammers/scammers. Any so-called evidence of a conspracy (tinc) is just fictional.
Lawyer jokes are a fact of life. But on the internet, the slime did not ooze yet
at the time of this case. In fact, back then, newsgroup spam was rarer than the
number of women dates Michael Jackson had. But that was about to change...
for the worse...
Back then, newsgroups were great!
Lively and interesting discussions.
A free flow of information.
Then came along a couple of lawyers.*
and they slimed newsgroups with their spam.
They were hyping a green card lottery service.
This was shocking to the net, for it was not good.
The response from the then disorganized internet was obvious.
An early unit was called in.
And another...
and others as well
The spam was handled.
The spammers were LARTed.
With predictable results.
An agreement was made.
One of them got disbarred.
And they made history as the first major spammers.
